What Everyone Ought to Know About Seeking Serenity.
You’ve probably been searching around the web for quite some time now, trying to learn as much as you can about how to get more serenity in your life.
Or maybe you’ve even tried to just implement some cool new self-care strategies, but it didn’t turn out as well as you hoped. It still seems as if things are always swirling around you. Indeed, if you’re like a lot of people, then you probably ended up with more time relaxing, but not really more peace of mind – or constant states of peace, which essentially is serenity. Don’t worry. You can start living a life full of serenity, and all you have to do is tweak your thought process a bit and put a few strategies in place. Generally, that means you need to avoid making the following five common type of mistakes.
Read on…
Seeking Serenity Mistake #1: Serenity comes from external factors. Just guessing, but I’m betting that close to half of people starting on a self improvement journey make this mistake. Worse yet, some of the blogs and products you find around the web actually teach people this “finding serenity” mistake! If you see someone advocating it, run. Looking for serenity from external sources is unhealthy and will not provide you with any long standing results. Instead, what you want to do is start with you! Find the barriers in your thinking that prohibit you from experiencing serenity as a lifestyle.
Seeking Serenity Mistake #2: Waiting for serenity to just “appear”. This is another exceedingly common mistake, simply because expecting high levels of peace which allow you to experience serenity, to just flow without any internal work – is just, well I hate to say it, but – ridiculous . However, if you want to increase peace and live in “serenity mode”, then you need to make sure you don’t just wait for it. Instead, focus on doing the internal work you need to do instead.
Seeking Serenity Mistake #3: Wandering Negative Thoughts. Don’t feel bad if you make this mistake. Because honestly even some of the biggest celebrities admit to doing this. Just look at Lady Gaga, who publicly admitted to having to work on battling negative emotions and thoughts. Listen to your emotions and get the appropriate help if you feel you are unable to manage them on your own. If you can, changing those thoughts to ones of gratitude can often do the trick. Your mind, body and soul will thank you for it.
Seeking Serenity Mistake #4: Not Making Intentional Time for Yourself. This one is a little tricky, simply because you could be perfectly on track and doing all the right things, but suddenly you realize you’ve started trying to accomplish so many things that you forget to PRIORITIZE yourself. You start helping everyone else, checking things off your to do list – and boom! You’re off-track. If this happens to you, don’t worry – you can get back on track with your serenity goals. All you have to do is recognize that YOU control your time – and start setting aside time everyday, even if it is just for 15 minutes.
Seeking Serenity Mistake #5: Not focusing on your “own” stuff. From what I’ve heard by talking to a whole lot of people on the path to self improvement, many of them don’t even realize this is a serenity seeking mistake. But, those who do, find it exceedingly frustrating, because it is so easy to mistake helping other people for claiming things that really don’t belong to you. Fortunately, you can avoid it fairly easily, simply by creating a list and crossing off everything you DO NOT have control over or that you have no impact on. Easy – but it definitely takes practice.
In summary… Yes, it’s true – now you too can have a serenity filled life, especially if you avoid these common “serenity seeking” mistakes. Try it out today to prove it to yourself!
